    In our recent interview with Leeza, she describes what it was like to realize her dream of traveling to Paris, the experience of standing at the base of the beautiful Sacre Couer Basilica, and how traveling with Putney influenced her goals and hopes for the future.

    We loved reading Richard’s college admission essay, where he reflects on the strong friendships he formed in Peru. He was accepted to many universities including UNC, Tulane, Marquette, George Washington, and Boston College, where he will attend. Congratulations!

    As the Putney Student Travel family has grown up over the years, it has done so alongside our alumni families. We were reminded of this when we received a call from Stephanie, who traveled with us in the 1980s. Her daughter was the 10th member of the family to travel with Putney!

    With alumni from all 50 states and more than 30 countries, Putney Student Travel provides unique opportunities for small groups of students to share an exciting and educational summer. Founded by George and Kitty Shumlin over 65 years ago, we remain focused on our goal to “be travelers, not tourists,” to join in the lives of the communities we visit, and to make possible truly life-changing life-changing experiences.  Here are some inspiring stories from Putney alumni through the years.

    College Essays

    Each summer, Putney students push themselves out of their comfort zones and into new environments all around the world.     Putney through the Generations – Going Beyond Since 1951

    Since 1951, Putney Student Travel has developed strong connections across generations of alumni families. Over more than six decades, we’ve been joined by friends, siblings, children, nieces and nephews, and even grandchildren of those travelers from the early years.
