Hands-on Learning & Structure
Designed for adventurous, energetic, and engaged middle schoolers looking for an alternative to a traditional camp setting, Middle School programs combine essential elements from Putney’s range of travel experiences, such as Community Service, Cultural Exploration, and Language Learning. Whether you are a seasoned traveler, transitioning out of summer camp, or leaving home for the first time, our Middle School programs offer a safe and structured experience abroad. With a Middle School program as a foundation, students often move on to other Putney experiences in future years.
Adventure & Immersion
Practice your Spanish with locals in a beachside village in Costa Rica, marvel at La Alhambra in Spain’s southern city of Granada, learn to dance flamenco in a traditional cueva, or surf on the Costa del Sol. Go beyond the typical tourist itinerary and immerse yourself in the French Alps or the museums of Amsterdam.
We want to thank you for providing a safe, exciting, and wonderful introduction to ‘independent’ travel. Our daughter loved it!
Our experienced leaders foster a supportive group dynamic, facilitate positive interactions with local people, and create plentiful opportunities for exploration and discovery. A low student-to-leader ratio ensures that students receive the personal attention they need in the context of a program that is structured, safe, and fun. Through outdoor adventures, cultural immersion, and team-building exercises, Middle School students develop into seasoned Putney travelers.
