  • Education: Colby College, B.A., International Studies.

Amelia spent most of her college years abroad.  She studied at the Université de Bourgogne in Dijon, France, where she focused on French language, Contemporary French Society, and French History.  She created lesson plans and taught English, music, environmental awareness, and basic math to Indian students at the Gandhi Ashram School in Kalimpong, India. Amelia then went on to study at the CIEE Study Center at Suffolk University in Dakar, Senegal, where she concentrated on Development in Africa, including Environmental Policy, Economics, Public Health, and International Crisis Management.  While in Senegal, Amelia worked at Pouponniere de Medina, where she gave basic care to young orphans.  She has also taught musical theatre at the Looking Glass Theatre Co. in Providence, Rhode Island for kids ages 8-16, and can be found humming a tune at almost any point in the day. Amelia’s global experiences have helped her recognize the importance of learning about other people and places in the world by interacting with them first hand, rather than simply believing what the media tells us about them. She is proud to be a third-year Putney leader to Senegal. She is fluent in French and proficient in Wolof and Spanish.
