Deepa is originally from California, where she has lived for the majority of her life – enjoying the sunny skies and spending time on its beautiful beaches. She attended the University of California, Irvine, for her undergrad years, where she received her B.A. in History and Political Science and during which time she became very involved with the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign in 2008. Deepa then went on to attend graduate school at the University of Southern California in pursuit of her dream to become a teacher. Last December, Deepa married Vijay in India and is now living in and adjusting to life in less-than-sunny Chicago. Deepa enjoys watching movies, listening to music, traveling, DIY art projects, and working with younger students, especially high schoolers. Deepa is a dedicated traveler, with recent trips to London, Germany, France, Italy, and India. She visits India at least once a year, if not more, and speaks fluent Gujarati and Hindi. Deepa has led Community Service India.
