  • Education: St. Lawrence University, B.A., Environmental Studies; Brooklyn College, M.S., Childhood Education.

Liz’s love of nature led her to St. Lawrence University and St. Lawrence led her to her other passion: teaching. Liz majored in Environmental Studies, and minored in Educational Studies, and spent those years at school balancing her teaching endeavors with outdoor pursuits, returning every summer to the Catskill Mountains to work at NYS DEC Camp DeBruce.  During her freshman year Liz began studying Kiswahili, in anticipation of a semester abroad.  While in Kenya, Liz participated in a month-long field experience in Lake Nakuru National Park, worked with the rangers in the Rhino Unit, and learned about their conservation efforts. After graduating from St. Lawrence, Liz headed west to work for a winter in Yellowstone National Park, and then taught at an outdoor education facility in the Southern Adirondacks.  Liz worked in California for two years at San Mateo Outdoor Education before returning east to attend graduate school at Brooklyn College,  where she student-taught in Harlem, and received her NYS teaching certificate.  When Liz is not teaching, she enjoys running, biking, playing music, and dreaming up new adventures. Liz has led Community Service Tanzania.
