- Education: The College of William and Mary, B.A., Philosophy, English.
In addition to his academic studies at William and Mary, Franklin taught English to adults and worked on the campus literary magazine. He spent the spring of his junior year studying Spanish in Santiago, Chile (as well as adventuring around mountains, glaciers, and volcanoes). He liked South America so much that he stayed for three more months, working on an eco-tourism venture in Patagonia, a goat cheese farm in central Chile, and at an under-resourced school in Peru. Franklin has held a wide variety of other summer jobs, from leading volunteers on trips building hiking trails in Vermont, to working in a food pantry, to building boardwalks on the Florida coast. After graduation, Franklin moved to Badajoz in western Spain, where he has spent the past year teaching English in an elementary school and a high school. He grew up in Tampa, Florida and in his free time, he likes to backpack, meditate, and write stories. Franklin is fluent in Spanish. He has led Community Service Costa Rica.
