Jennifer has always had a love for travel and passion for Africa, both of which came together during college when she spent a summer in South Africa, and a semester abroad in Ghana. During her stay in Ghana, she interned at an NGO, working on projects designed to help stop violence against women, experienced university life in another culture, and absolutely fell in love with the country. She returned to Ghana on her own in 2009 and spent three months volunteering for local NGOs, teaching English and Computer Science to third and fourth grade students, and assisted with micro-credit finance loans associated with the Kiva program. During this trip she also began to bolster her language skills in Twi and understanding of Ghanaian culture by living with a host family. In the summer of 2010 Jennifer traveled to Ghana again, this time doing research for her MA thesis and taking formal language courses. Jennifer loves writing, reading, exploring new cultures, and going on adventures. She is proficient in Twi. Jennifer has led Community Service Ghana.
