  • Education: The College of Wooster, B.A. Communication, minor in Geology.

Joey took full advantage of his school’s international opportunities while studying at The College of Wooster. He first went abroad through the Lilly Foundation, travelling to Belarus to work at a rural orphanage for children affected by the Chernobyl disaster. The following summer, he traveled to Ghana on a grant from the Noble Foundation, where he assisted at a rural hospital, researched student crowding at a nurse’s training college, and prepared a grant proposal for new student housing. Additionally, he conducted research in Switzerland for his senior thesis on the rhetorical strategies of developing nations campaigning to host the Summer Olympics. Since graduating with honors from Wooster, Joey has worked in a variety of roles—he led teenagers on bicycle trips in Maine and Nova Scotia, taught outdoor education at a Kentucky state park, and guided school groups at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Alabama. In 2010, Joey completed a year on the road driving cross-country in Oscar Mayer’s promotional Wienermobile. He has led Community Service Ghana.
