Kartikeya’s research interests include climate change and energy policy, the geopolitics of energy use, transportation, and wildlife. He has authored many articles focusing on energy, climate change, the citizen sector, and the role of youth movements including his Master’s thesis on access to energy for rural communities in India through decentralized renewable energy systems. Prior to coming to Yale’s School of Forestry and Environmental Science, Kartikeya was a consultant with the Environmental Defense Fund. He is the co-founder of the Indian Youth Climate Network (IYCN) and started the blog, “What’s with the Climate?” as a space for voices of the budding youth climate movement from across South Asia. He has been involved with the international climate negotiations since the UN climate talks in Bali, Indonesia and has most recently served as part of the negotiating team of the government of Maldives at the climate talks in Copenhagen, Denmark in December 2009, Tianjin, China in October 2010 and Cancun, Mexico in December 2010. This September, Kartikeya will be enrolling at the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy for a Ph.D. in International Affairs with a focus on climate solutions and emerging markets.  Kartikeya has traveled extensively in India and is fluent in Hindi. He has led Global Awareness in Action India.
