Katie’s enthusiasm for travel began early.  At age five she accompanied her family on a year-long sabbatical in India. In high school, she took a service-learning trip to Dominica to volunteer, which ignited a passion for intercultural exchange.  While in college, she studied abroad in Parma, Italy, and lived with a local family. After graduation, Katie headed to Cape Town, South Africa, to volunteer with an HIV/AIDS peer education program. She continued work in the public health sector spending two years fundraising for the Colorado AIDS Project in Denver.  Katie then spent six months in East Java, Indonesia, where she taught English at a secondary school and lived with a family.  More recently, she took a position working with a local NGO in Cambodia on climate change education in rural schools.  During this time, she has traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia and Indonesia.  Katie currently resides in Battambang, Cambodia, where she has lived for over two years, establishing a start-up social enterprise project. Katie has led Community Service Nusa Penida in 2011 and 2012 and she is proficient in Italian, Indonesian, and Khmer.
