- Education: Brandeis University, B.A., Psychology, Hispanic Studies, minor in Latin America and Latino Studies.
Originally from Monterrey, Mexico, Lilia moved to Houston, Texas at a young age. During high school, she dedicated most of her free time to volunteering and doing community service for organizations including Habitat for Humanity at sites throughout Texas, Georgia, and Mississippi. At Brandeis she was the treasurer and president of ¡AHORA!, the Latino and Hispanic culture organization. She was also the founding member and treasurer of MLK Jr. and Friend Club, an organization dedicated to living the teachings of MLK Jr. through community service and peace awareness events on campus. Currently, Lilia is a Teach for America Corps Member completing her second year in Houston as a 7th grade Intro to Algebra teacher at YES Prep Public Schools. Lilia is bilingual, and can often be found visiting relatives in Mexico – her interests include immigration law, Spanish literature, dancing, reading, and cooking. She has led Language Learning Argentina.
