Liliana’s dedication to traveling and social justice is a direct result of her multicultural background – she hails from Botswana, with Romanian parents and a Cuban step-father, and has traveled to many parts of the world including Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, China, and Argentina. During her time at St. Lawrence, she worked as a Teaching Assistant, Admissions Ambassador, and a Peer Tutor for Spanish, and was involved in several organizations and clubs including the African Student Union and GLOCAL – a peer review journal of student research papers dedicated to investigating local and global issues. Liliana studied for 6 months at the University of Costa Rica, and in addition to her coursework, found time to dance with three different performance troupes, including the National Dance Company. In December of 2010, she traveled to Argentina on a Travel Research Grant to investigate the effect of creative expression and arts in promoting awareness, critical thinking, and solidarity in the public realm, with a special focus on the role of youth. Liliana’s passions include dance, music, drawing, squash, and participating in any outdoor activity she can find. She is fluent in English, Spanish, Setswana, Romanian, and French. She has led Community Service Costa Rica.
