Philippine-born and Metro-Detroit raised, Mark Anthony’s interest in the French language began in fourth grade, following a Michigan history class which highlighted the state’s francophone heritage. He studied French formally in both high school and college and within his first two years of undergraduate studies, Mark Anthony travelled to Noisy-le-Roi, France, New Orleans, and Québec. During the fall of 2008, he studied abroad and conducted independent research throughout South Africa, and spent the following spring studying abroad in Paris and interning in Fontenay-sous-Bois Cedex. Upon his return to campus, he compiled his research into an honors thesis which addressed the upcoming English translation of the Roman Missal and its effect on South Africa’s multiethno-linguistic Catholic population. At the forefront of Mark Anthony’s personal and academic interests are cooking and the notion of “learning through food.” In addition, he is interested in ethnography, cross-cultural communication, and African art, as well as tennis, film, and jazz. He is currently the Program Coordinator in the Office of Multi-Cultural Student Affairs at Denison University. Mark Anthony is fluent in French. He has led Language Learning France.
