- Education: Bennington College, B.A., Dance, Drama.
Tara discovered her passion for Latin-American language and culture when she graduated a semester early from high school and interned at El Centro de Educación Creativa, an environmentally focused K-12 school in Monteverde, Costa Rica. While there, she tutored students in English and Math, facilitated the creation of a mural project, and taught theatre classes. She delved further into her interest in Latin America during her junior year of college, while studying educational policy in Chile with the School for International Training. She completed a month long independent study at a school for marginalized high school students in Buenos Aires, where she researched the role of community in fostering healthy learning environments. At Bennington, Tara explored leadership and facilitation styles in her creation of numerous student dance and theater productions. In the year following graduation, she taught drama at a K-12 public school on a small island off the coast of Maine where she began an after-school dance program and directed numerous student and community productions. Knowing she needed to reinvigorate her passion for the Spanish language and Latin-American culture, Tara returned to Santiago, Chile where she is currently managing a restaurant, translating a play, and acting in a theatre company that donates its proceeds to charity. In addition to her love for cultural exchange and the performing arts, Tara is inspired by eating locally grown foods, hiking, and writing. She is fluent in Spanish. Tara has led Foundations Costa Rica.
