Vijay Shah

  • Education: University of Illinois at Chicago Honors College, B.A., History with Teaching Certification, University of Chicago, M.A., Divinity.

In addition to Vijay’s formal studies, he has spent two years in India studying philosophy and culture at an alternative residential educational institute near Mumbai.  He has taught at the Multilingual Institute of Chicago, Ralph Ellison High School, and Farragut Career Academy, instructing a diversity of courses ranging from World History, to US History, Civics, Economics, and Pre-Calculus.  Vijay is a National Merit Scholar, an accomplished a capella singer, and plays both the piano and traditional Indian tabla percussion.  With two years of coaching experience in basketball and volleyball, Vijay makes an effort to remain active, not only in the classroom but in the school environment and community.  He is fluent in Hindi, Gujarati, and Marathi. Vijay has led Community Service India.
