A graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, Erika Jo has taught students of all ages, including undergraduate courses in film and literature, drama, poetry, and nonfiction. As an undergraduate, she studied abroad in England, and later pursued a Translation Certificate in Old English and Latin. She is the author of the poetry collection I’m Your Huckleberry and editor of the scholarly volume Beatrice Hastings: On the Life and Work of a Lost Modern Master. In April 2019, she successfully defended her doctoral dissertation at the University of Houston, focusing on contemporary women’s poetry, avant-garde aesthetics, and lyric studies. Currently, Erika Jo is an organizer of the monthly Poison Pen reading series and leads weekly workshops at the MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital and Menil Museum through WITS. She has taught creative writing at Pre-College Florence.
