While at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Neng served two years as a Public Relations personnel and a secretary to promote diversity and inclusivity as part of the Southeast Asian Student Union organization. Additionally, she spent a semester abroad in Tokyo, Japan, in the Spring of 2019. Besides learning Japanese, she was able to adventure out to Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, and Okinawa. After teaching English to two students in Laos over ZOOM with a nonprofit organization, Neng decided to pursue a master’s in Linguistics with the dream of creating resources for language maintenance within minority languages. Neng has experience working with students of all ages from her work as a 4-H afterschool instructor, an AVID tutor, and a summer camp leader. Besides that, Neng is fluent in Hmong and English, can speak a bit of Chinese, and hopes to learn many more languages in the future.
