Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela and transplanted to Alabama at a young age, Jonathan grew up eating two of the best foods in the world: arepas and BBQ pork. Before attending graduate school he spent four years working in the world of international education, developing accessible programs of student exchange for universities in Latin America. He later returned to school in search of innovative poverty and inequality reduction strategies in Latin America, where he found a like-minded community of students addicted to The Economist magazine’s biting analysis and snarky humor. Recently, Jonathan has spent much of his time between Boston and Brazil, helping to launch a market-based program for educational inclusion in low-income communities in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. In his spare time he will stop everything at the drop of a hat for a pick-up game of soccer, is trying to learn every samba song ever written on guitar, and loves hanging out and drinking coffee. Jonathan has led Community Service Argentina and Community Service Peru.
