Peter was a second-generation co-director of Putney Student Travel with his brother Jeff, until they passed the reins to current third-generation co-directors Liv and Becca Shumlin two years ago. He was born into educational summers and has globe-trotted throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Americas leading and developing Putney programs and meeting with world leaders during his three terms as Vermont’s 81st governor. He has served as a visiting fellow at Havard’s Kennedy School of Government and is a Menschel Senior Fellow at Harvard’s Chan School of Public Health. Peter continues to work with his Putney team members and he lives on a farm with his wife Katie Hunt, where they tend to livestock and a big garden.
