While pursuing her undergraduate degrees in photography and art history at Massachusetts College of Art & Design, Erica traveled to Guatemala to study Mayan art and architecture with researchers and historians in the field. This immersive experience sparked her love of travel and learning about unique cultures and history. After earning her B.F.A., she continued to travel through Central and South America, creating visual storytelling projects. Her photographs have been exhibited in solo and group art exhibitions throughout the U.S. as well as in online & print publications. Her photographic work was also featured in the PBS Documentary American Portrait episode “I Work” with a focus on labor unions. She has been working with youth in traditional school settings, as well as arts-based community and museum programs in Boston for over 10 years. Erica is currently a freelance photographer, a high school visual art & photography teacher, as well as an arts instructor at the Danforth Art Museum. She has previously led student travel programs and photography workshops, to the U.S., Croatia, Ecuador, Italy, Germany, and Iceland. Erica is a National Geographic Certified Instructor who aims to teach students about the world in innovative and interdisciplinary ways while cultivating the Explorer Mindset. Besides photography and travel, Erica enjoys rock climbing, and snowboarding.
