While at UC Davis, Josh focused on environmental sciences and minored in oceanography. He has always been passionate about protecting the ocean and his time at UC Davis afforded him opportunities to study in Australia along the Great Barrier Reef and the rocky coasts of Bodega Bay, California. After graduation, Josh returned to his hometown of San Diego and began his career in outdoor education and guiding. Sharing his passion for conservation and the ocean has led to his ability to connect with students in the field. After working outdoors for nine years, Josh decided to pursue the next step in his career and attended the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. There, he focused on developing new skills in communications and media with the intent of creating educational videos about the ocean. His goal is to share the wonders of the marine environment to all students, particularly those who may not have the opportunity to experience it firsthand. Josh believes that understanding and exploring the ocean leads to efforts in protecting our planet. Most recently, he has been able to travel and film in Mexico and Ecuador (his videos are on www.oceanswithmro.com). Proficient in Spanish, Josh has previously led Putney programs in Belize. This fall, he will resume outdoor guiding and educating others.
