While at Cal State San Marcos, Rachel focused on English rhetoric and composition studies. She pursued writing studies after dedicating extensive time to the in-depth study of the Japanese language. Spending two years immersed in researching Japanese culture, language, and Japan/Western relations, Rachel maintained her passion for Japanese culture and language throughout her academic journey. She was able to travel across the country, experiencing firsthand the subject of her studies. Currently, Rachel serves as a teaching associate, guiding first-year writing students to discover their voices and connect their personal interests to their academic pursuits. This fall, she will continue to inspire young adults in their first-year composition studies. Rachel is proficient in Japanese.
