At Montana State University, Heather studied abroad in Morocco and France, studying French and Arabic languages. In Morocco, Heather received a grant to conduct qualitative research in an Amazigh (Berber) village, where she studied how the recognition of the local language, Tamazigh, as a national language intersected with and impacted the identity of individuals in the community. Heather worked full-time for Putney Student Travel for six years, led outdoor education programs in China and the U.S., taught as a Natural Science teacher at a traveling semester high school, and is currently finishing a master’s program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Heather currently works as a pre-licensed counselor, supporting survivors of domestic violence, trafficking, and stalking, and on a USDA-funded team researching the impacts of stress on farm workers in the western U.S. and pacific island territories. Heather is proficient in French and has led student travel programs in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Morocco. Heather is currently based in Bozeman, Montana, where she enjoys riding bikes, spending time in the mountains, and playing/performing on a fantasy adventure improv team.
