Caroline Livadatis
While at Colorado College, Caroline focused on understanding the experiences of refugees and migrants living in Germany, while simultaneously gaining German cultural and linguistic fluency. She traveled to Germany to study the influence of pivotal BIPOC leaders on the history of Berlin, and spent time in Southern Germany at a “Waldkindergarten” to research cultural variations in parenting philosophies for her thesis, comparing Germany and the United States. Additionally, Caroline completed a minor in religious studies, focusing on South Asian religion, an interest sparked during four months spent in India, primarily during a gap semester before college. Throughout and after college, Caroline led outdoor education trips for Overland Summers, guiding students on backpacking expeditions in Southern Alaska and Central Switzerland. Caroline developed a deep interest in immersive travel, living with host families, learning languages, and gaining cultural fluency in both urban and rural parts of Germany, India, and South Texas on the Mexico-US border. In the past year, Caroline furthered her competency as an outdoor educator by summiting Mt. Blanc in the French Alps and obtaining her Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician certification through the National Outdoor Leadership School. Passionate about her work as an outdoor and experiential educator, she hopes to continue sharing her love of the outdoors and immersive travel with her students. Caroline is fluent in German and proficient in Spanish.
