Jimena Montane
Jimena is a biologist and has worked extensively with environmental education both inside and outside classrooms. During her graduate studies, she spent two years living and studying in Hungary, Greece, the UK, and South Africa; and traveled throughout Europe, including a hitchhiking trip from Budapest to Athens. Jimena then spent a year working at the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands Secretariat in Switzerland, and for the past 8 years has specialized in sustainable and conservation-based tourism. Currently, she designs and leads outdoor education programs and collaborates on sustainable tourism projects with rural and Indigenous communities in Mexico and Central America. Jimena is the founder of “Manglareando”, a sustainable tourism and outdoor education project in the mangroves of her hometown, Veracruz. She is a conservationist, nature lover, fun seeker, and voracious traveler. Fluent in Spanish and English, and proficient in French, Jimena has previously led student programs in the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Italy & Greece.
