While at Bennington and Columbia, Sydney focused on fiction writing, sweater knitting, and hanging loose with her guitar. She went on to train as a birth doula with DONA International, and has now attended ten home births and counting as a doula and midwife’s apprentice in Oregon and California. In college, Sydney participated in a permaculture workstay in Ecuador, where she lived in a tipi amid a panorama of volcanoes for two months. She recently graduated from Columbia, where she earned her M.F.A. in fiction and was a recipient of the McCrindle Fellowship. Sydney is fluent in English and proficient in Spanish. This fall, she will be exploring the Western frontiers, charting out a place to teach high school English and continue her doula practice.
