While at the University of Colorado, Lauren sailed around the world on Semester at Sea and fell in love with international education. After university, Lauren led gap-year semester programs in India, East Africa, Southeast Asia, and South America for Carpe Diem Education and Youth International. She was the student affairs manager for the School for Field Studies in Bhutan and led several summers of backcountry wilderness expeditions for high school students. Then she taught ancient history at international schools in Egypt, Honduras, and Guatemala. Lauren is a certified PADI divemaster and Wilderness First Responder. After the pandemic, Lauren taught World Studies to bilingual students for four years in Chicago Public Schools. Currently, she is the bilingual academic interventionist at Sullivan High School (also Chicago Public Schools). Lauren has previously led student travel programs in Costa Rica, Nepal, Greece, Italy, Fiji, and Japan.
