While at the University of Kansas, Savannah studied English literature and developed a deep interest in global perspectives and storytelling. After graduating, she moved to northern Spain, where she immersed herself in the language and culture and discovered her passion for teaching while working with students abroad. Inspired by that experience, she returned to the United States to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching from Duke University. Savannah then taught high school English in Durham Public Schools for six years, where she designed interdisciplinary, project-based curriculum and helped students build skills in research, writing, and rhetoric. During her time in the classroom, she became a National Board Certified Teacher and was selected as a Stanford Hollyhock Fellow for her work in education. Savannah has traveled to more than twenty countries and enjoys exploring new places through language, culture, and outdoor adventure. She has hiked the Camino de Santiago across northern Spain and has collaborated on education initiatives and projects in England, Spain, Finland, Uruguay, Peru, and Nepal. Savannah now works as a learning designer and project director, focused on creating innovative learning experiences and educational programs for educators and school systems. She is proficient in Spanish and has previously led Putney’s Service program in Peru.
