While at Portland State University, Devon studied international development with a focus on education and agriculture. As an undergraduate, she completed two international capstone programs: one in Costa Rica studying organic farming and one in Argentina studying eco-tourism. After graduation she packed her bags and headed South, traveling extensively through Central and South America. Fueled by her love for service learning and teaching, Devon moved to Costa Rica and began work with a nonprofit that creates classrooms and offers community English classes. She then headed to Spain, where she taught high school English for two and a half years. Devon has since returned to her home state of Vermont and works at the Putney Barn as program director and as part of the travel team. In her free time she loves all things outdoors: the winter months are spent snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and touring, while summers are for dancing barefoot to bluegrass, working the local farmers market, and hiking in the Green Mountains. She has led Putney programs to Patagonia, Australia, Fiji, and New Zealand.
