Alvaro has a strong background in biodiversity and conservation biology, with research experience in primate projects across South Africa, Ethiopia, and Equatorial Guinea. His passion for the outdoors led him to become a professional mountain guide after leading the mountain group at his university in Spain. Driven by his interest in how mountain communities adapt to climate change, he pursued a master’s degree in mountain areas, studying in the Dolomites and the Austrian Alps. Alvaro has worked with the UN Global Mountain Safeguard Research (GLOMOS) in Italy and conducted climate change and migration studies in mountain communities in Sweden. Now based in Spain, Alvaro is studying social work while leading experiential outdoor learning programs for Spanish students. In his free time, he enjoys climbing, skiing, and canyoning. Fluent in Spanish and English, Alvaro has previously led student programs in Peru, Switzerland, Italy, France, and the Netherlands.
