While at Binghamton University, Daniel focused on International Politics and European Refugee Legislation. He spent his junior year studying in Madrid, Spain and then spent time working at the Helena Kennedy Center for International Justice, helping refugees from Syria, Egypt, and Eritrea seek asylum in the United Kingdom. Daniel was raised between Spain and the United States, spending the majority of his childhood living in The Canary Islands. He later moved to New York, where he attended high school and later university. The duality of his upbringing fostered a strong sense of cultural awareness, flexibility, and a passion for international relations. After finishing his undergraduate studies, Daniel moved to Madrid where he spent several years teaching English, history, and debate at a bilingual high school. Daniel has led his students in the Global Classrooms Model UN Competition, a project sponsored by the Fulbright Commission, and has worked to instill a passion for human rights and diplomacy in his students as they expand their global perspectives on contemporary issues. Daniel has traveled extensively throughout Spain and Europe, where he has spent summers visiting family and gone on Interrail trips with friends. He enjoys history, art, architecture, and sharing his passion for Spanish culture with others. He is fluent in Spanish, English, and Italian, and proficient in French and Arabic. This fall, Daniel plans to pursue a master’s degree in diplomacy and international relations in Rome.
