While at Goucher, Kat focused on the intersections of language, culture, art, and food. She spent her junior year in Paris interning with various food and art history groups while conducting research for her thesis on the sociological and cultural changes in French pastry. An avid and accomplished distance runner, Kat also served as Captain of the DIII Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track teams. After graduation, Kat led outdoor programs through Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon with an active travel organization. She also taught English to middle and high school students in Lyon, France. Kat then lived in New Orleans where she was a teacher and program director of a running-based youth leadership non-profit. Kat moved to Chicago to pursue graduate studies at the University of Chicago and now works as a School Social Worker for Chicago Public Schools. Outside of work, Kat enjoys organizing lake jumps, taking art classes, and biking to explore new pizza places. She is fluent in French and has dabbled in Spanish and Italian. Kat has previously led Putney’s Exploration Switzerland, Italy, France, & Holland program.
