Anika Chakravarti
After finishing her undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering, Anika began working for Siemens Energy, where she currently supports clients with their decarbonization goals via technologies like carbon capture. While working full-time, she also earned a master’s degree in biomimicry and became a certified Biomimicry Professional through Biomimicry3.8. During her studies, she travelled around the globe and had amazing experiences in nature, like snorkeling with whale sharks in Baja and going on night hikes in Costa Rica’s rainforests in search of red-eyed tree frogs. Anika has applied her engineering background and nature-inspired design expertise to co-found two projects in her home country of Zimbabwe: a plastics recycling project led by a community of women and a wildlife conservation project aimed at providing water for animals during droughts. Anika is continually developing her skills as a naturalist, whether she’s walking through Joshua Tree National Park or hiking up Mount Kilimanjaro.
