While at university, Estela focused on Translation and Interlinguistic Mediation, with a minor in French and English, exploring how language shapes understanding across cultures. She wrote her thesis on the etymology of language and how the brain processes words—a project that combined her love of linguistics and cognitive science. After graduating, she spent a year on Réunion Island, teaching Spanish and exploring the island and its mountain trails, including climbing Piton des Neiges, the highest point of the Indian Ocean. Estela later earned a master’s degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language from the University of La Rioja, further deepening her expertise in language education. During her undergraduate years, she volunteered at her local Scout group, won a poetry award for a piece on the Silk Road, and traveled to Vietnam to represent her university at the United Students of the Silk-Road Universities Network Summit. Estela now works as a Spanish language and literature lecturer at the University of the Côte D’Azur, in Nice, France, where she helps students learn Spanish and connect across Spanish-speaking cultures. She is fluent in Spanish, Valencian, English, and French. This fall, she will continue sharing her passion for communication and Spanish in Nice.
