While at Duke University, Ainsley focused her studies at the intersection of engineering, sustainability, and education. Her academic work explored innovations in robotics and A.I., ethics in engineering, and the societal implications of changes to the transportation industry. Passionate about youth development, Ainsley has served as a camp counselor, participated in multiple mentorship programs, and supported first-generation college applicants through Upward Bound. Last summer, she combined her interests in engineering and education while designing curriculum and research instruments at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Most recently, she designed a scuba diving water visibility sensor for Garmin. Ainsley also studied abroad in Madrid, Spain, and enjoys sharing her experiences in Europe with students. She is proficient in French and is currently studying German and Spanish. This fall, Ainsley will complete her teaching license as a Duke TeachHouse fellow while teaching high school science at Durham School of the Arts.
