Andres Lopez
During Andrés’ biology studies at New York University (NYU) in Abu Dhabi, he focused on interactions between marine organisms that provide resilience to climate change, such as heat-resistant corals. While at NYU, he studied in five countries, including a semester in Paris to study French linguistics and sociology. During a gap year in college, he discovered a passion for access to education while developing an English immersion curriculum for a Peruvian startup. Andrés now works as a middle school Spanish/French teacher, helping advance intercultural exchange and place-based learning in New York City with a focus on boys’ education. In this role, he has led overnight trips to West Virginia and the Bahamas. Andrés is fluent in English, Spanish, and French, and proficient in Arabic and Hebrew. In his free time, you can find him playing rugby with a local rugby team wherever he is based, or learning new juggling and unicycling tricks. This fall, Andrés will be attending NYU Steinhardt’s M.A. program in International Education with a focus on Study Abroad and Cross-Cultural Exchange.
