While at Emory, Ben focused on fiction writing and conducted research on voter demographics and sports betting law. In addition to his major studies, he took classes in Spanish and Italian, and spent a semester in Salamanca, Spain, studying European politics and traveling throughout Western Europe, while also teaching English to local students. Ben further combined his love for education and travel by teaching English at summer camps across Italy. He has also worked as a rock climbing instructor both in indoor gyms and outdoor settings. As a former Putney student, Ben participated in a language immersion program in Ecuador and has since become proficient in Spanish through further immersion in Spain and by working with Latino immigrant children in the U.S. His favorite way to spend his free time is reading a good book in a hammock outdoors. This fall, Ben plans to return to Spain to teach English for a year before heading to law school.
