A native of Duluth, Minnesota, Bob led his first Putney program in 2005, and has since led exploration, service, and academic programs in Europe and Africa, and directed language and career programs from the Putney Barn. He has taught high school and college French, and worked as a translator and interpreter at international athletic events, most recently at the Arctic Winter Games in Fairbanks, Alaska. Bob has also worked as a professional ski patroller and instructor, and is currently a registered nurse and EMT in his home town. He speaks French, Spanish, and Italian, and is currently studying Arabic.
