Daniel Singh Guzman
While at Binghamton University, Daniel studied Political Science and English Literature, focusing on international politics and European refugee legislation. He spent his junior year in Madrid, Spain, and later worked at the Helena Kennedy Center for International Justice, assisting refugees from Syria, Egypt, and Eritrea in seeking asylum in the United Kingdom. Raised between Spain and the United States, Daniel spent much of his childhood in the Canary Islands before moving to New York for high school and university. This dual upbringing has deeply shaped his cultural awareness and sparked his passion for international relations. After completing his undergraduate studies, Daniel returned to Madrid, where he taught English and history at a bilingual high school for several years. There, he led students in Model UN competitions, instilling a passion for diplomacy and human rights while helping them broaden their global perspectives. In recent years, Daniel has led history and language semester travel programs in Italy, Morocco, and the Northeast, in addition to leading Putney’s Language Spain programs. His extensive travels across Spain and Europe—often spent exploring new regions with family and friends—have deepened his appreciation for diverse cultures and further enriched his teaching. Fluent in Spanish, English, and Italian, and proficient in French and Arabic, Daniel enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for history, art, architecture, and languages with students. This fall, he will move to Rome to pursue a master’s degree in diplomacy and international relations.
