While at the University of Richmond, Sandra explored education and language acquisition through immersive experiences, including a study abroad program in Argentina, where she researched social movements and human rights. After graduating, she joined Teach for America, teaching high school newcomers from Central America in Baltimore and helping to develop support systems for immigrant students adjusting to a new country. Sandra’s commitment to global education led her to Colombia as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS). In Bucaramanga, she taught university students and partnered with local organizations like the YMCA to support youth development. Later, as a Princeton in Latin America Fellow in the Dominican Republic, she collaborated with the DREAM Project to strengthen literacy initiatives, train teachers, and empower women entrepreneurs through English classes. Fluent in Spanish, Sandra is passionate about supporting learners through meaningful educational experiences. This fall, she looks forward to continuing her work in expanding access to creative learning opportunities for young people.
