Timothy Langenberg
As an undergraduate, Tim competed in both D1 and D3 cross country and track and field, was a member of various music groups, and spent a lot of time rock climbing. Since then, he has worked as a ski instructor in Colorado; toured with a bluegrass band; thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail; served a year in AmeriCorps; worked for Habitat for Humanity; and worked as an EMT and master field instructor for several wilderness therapy programs in NC. For five years he taught and managed educators at the five campuses of NatureBridge, a nonprofit educational partner of the national parks. His master’s thesis focused on implementing wilderness therapy practices into traditional science education, which he brought to urban schools where he taught and coached in Detroit and Grand Rapids, Michigan. He currently lives in San Francisco, where he teaches 5th/6th grade science, coaches, and guides in the Sierras in the summers. He has led Putney programs to Hawaii and Iceland, as well as programs to Costa Rica, Iceland, Canada, and Mexico.
