Tomas Pinzon Rincon
While at Los Andes, Tomas focused on developing an integrated understanding of tropical biodiversity through a community-based, participatory lens. He has worked with rural communities in diverse regions and ecosystems around the world, providing innovative solutions to challenges in sustainable development and human-nature interactions. Tomas has traveled to five continents and has run immersive sustainable tourism experiences that have attracted the attention of major conservation organizations such as the National Geographic Society and The Nature Conservancy, both of which have supported some of his projects. He now serves as CEO of a sustainable tourism company operating in remote areas of Colombia, where he helps to conserve tropical biodiversity while creating sustainable sources of income for local communities. Tomas is fluent in Spanish and English, and proficient in Portuguese and French. This fall, he will be completing his Divemaster certification with a focus on shark conservation in the Maldives.
