While studying Marine Biology in La Paz, México, Juan focused on the research of sharks and reef fishes. He was certified as a SCUBA Divemaster and a nature guide, spending most of his time sharing the marine realm’s beauty with visitors from around the globe. Later, he pursued his M.S. in Marine Ecology at CICESE, while participating in seasonal wildlife expeditions with Gray Whales, Mabulas, Whale Sharks, and other amazing marine species in Baja, Mexico. During his master’s studies, he co-authored two scientific research papers and contributed to several projects obtaining data in the field. Juan is fluent in Spanish and English, now working as both a wildlife expedition leader and an operations manager, helping to recycle used fishing nets in order to prevent plastic waste in our oceans.
