While studying at Yale University, Conner balanced four years of collegiate wrestling with recording and releasing his first album. His music later appeared in commercials, television shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, and feature films. He has also collaborated on music and nature projects with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, NPR, and World Wildlife Fund, with whom he continues to work. After college, his music career led him to perform hundreds of concerts around the world, including several in Japan. Following a record deal with a Japanese label and coverage from Rolling Stone Japan, he became increasingly motivated to deepen his Japanese studies and begin writing music in Japanese. Conner originally studied Japanese for four years before college, later taking time to study Danish, Russian, and Spanish as well. For the past five years, however, his primary focus has returned to advancing his Japanese. Over the last two years, Conner has been based in Buenos Aires. This summer, he will be traveling, teaching Danish and Russian at a language summer camp in Minnesota, performing a concert in New York City, and releasing new music.
