Cristina Vélez
While at Skidmore College, Cristina focused on sports science and athlete development, combining her passion for education and high-performance sports. A dual citizen of the U.S. and Spain, she moved to Madrid after graduation and has spent the past 13 years working in sports development, coaching, and international education. Cristina played a key role in expanding lacrosse across Europe and Latin America, working with World Lacrosse and Spain Lacrosse to manage global initiatives and major sporting events. She recently made history as the first woman to serve as Head Coach of a Men’s National Lacrosse Team, leading Team Brazil on the international stage with the Brazilian Lacrosse Federation, which she co-founded and currently leads. Cristina’s diverse background also includes time as a professional Ice Girl for the Boston Bruins and six years of teaching in both the U.S. and Spain. Cristina is bilingual in English and Spanish, and speaks intermediate Portuguese. She loves immersing herself in different cultures through food, language, art, and sport. Beyond lacrosse, she plays recreational soccer and padel, and enjoys yoga and CrossFit.
