As an undergraduate, Margarita focused on cultural studies and education, combining these two disciplines to help students understand more about contemporary art. She lived for more than a year in New York studying, traveling, and learning more about art education. During the following years, she traveled with thousands of Colombian students in Colombia and in other Latin American countries such as Brazil, Argentina, Dominican Republic, and Panama, and was involved in leading community projects as an outdoor educator. Later Margarita worked at the Colegio Gran Bretaña in Bogotá and led the International Baccalaureate CAS program for three years, taking students to lead projects supporting communities in Colombia and creating bridges between seniors and communities. Now she divides her time between traveling with students around the world leading experiential education programs, and teaching experiential painting workshops that engage communities and students in the creation of social projects in La Calera, Colombia.
