Island Escape & Ancient Play: Notes from Greece

Exploration Italy and Greece leaders describe a dreamy summer day crafting and watching rays on the ancient island of Daskalio.

Today felt like something out of a sun-drenched dream. We took a short and scenic boat ride from Tolo to the tiny island of Daskalio, where the turquoise waters welcomed us like an old friend.

The day unfolded in the best possible way—beachside bliss with snorkeling, sunbathing, and a hike up to a breathtaking viewpoint that gave us sweeping views of the Argolic Gulf.

The sea was crystal clear and delightfully warm, perfect for floating, swimming, and spotting colorful fish below the surface. Time seemed to slow down—just the sea, the sun, and the rhythm of nature.

Six handcrafted clay dolls sit on a table

In the afternoon, we changed pace and stepped back in time with a hands-on pottery class. We crafted little clay dolls, just like the ones children played with in ancient Greece.

There was something both playful and meaningful about shaping the past with our own hands—it connected us to a simpler time.

A day of sunshine, sea, and a touch of history. Truly perfect.
