Making A SPLASH: Notes from Costa Rica

Students on our Service Costa Rica program share highlights from a day of teamwork, adventure, and time together on the river.

Hi, it’s Hudson and Nate!

The day began with music and shouting from our local guides bright and early. We then walked to get some delicious bowls of cereal for breakfast. After breakfast, we headed out for the group’s fun and exciting white-water rafting adventure.

Nate thinks that the beautiful and challenging experience helped us grow as a group and built stronger team connections. When the rafting concluded, we were DRENCHED! Hudson really enjoyed his lunch at the rafting center, as he got two bowlfuls and would have gone for a third. Our whole group was exhausted and all fell asleep on the ride back to base camp.

Back at base camp, we diligently progressed on our independent projects. This productive afternoon of reading and working left us hungry for dinner. The group was ecstatic to see ramen and rice on the menu. Yum! The day finished with a beautiful sunset and a productive nightly meeting filled with roses and laughter.

Signing off,

This is Nate!
And this is Hudson!
