Career Yellowstone program leaders share student snapshots from a day spent journeying across Wyoming from dawn til’ dusk.
Today we hit the road for our long drive to the south side of Yellowstone before dawn. We traveled through the Lamar Valley, down past the Canyon, and into the steamy geyser basin that is home to Old Faithful.
Along the way, we snapped some shots of huge herds of elk grazing at sunrise and made our way to the Old Faithful Lodge for a hot breakfast. After, we explored the grounds and watched Old Faithful erupt in a brilliant cloud of steam.

We further honed our skills, photographing the surrounding hot springs and geysers, before hitting the road again to photograph a massive hillside filled with bright yellow flowers.
After a long break back at our accommodations, we went out for a sunset run to try and capture images of wildlife during golden hour. Luckily, the bison herds in the Lamar Valley were out and active today, so our crew got the opportunity to photograph bison families in great detail.
After our bountiful bison encounter, we headed back to our cabins and got some much needed rest, excited for our upcoming river rafting trip! Onward!
