High school Exploration Patagonia students lace up their crampons and venture onto the brilliant blue ice of Perito Moreno Glacier before ending the day with an Argentine asado and a birthday celebration.

We spent a day trekking across the breathtaking Perito Moreno Glacier! We wore thick crampons that allowed us to walk on the glacier. The ice was a stunning, brilliant blue! Because the ice is packed so tightly without any air bubbles, it swallows up the lower-energy light and leaves only the high-energy blue light for our eyes to see.
After working up an appetite on the ice, we refueled with hearty lunches before heading back to celebrate Aylah’s birthday in true Argentine style with a massive asado feast and cake! Happy birthday, Aylah!
Take a look at these photos to see what teenagers look like completely unplugged (no cell phones!). As we prepare to return their phones, the students will be creating personal agreements about how to stay present, connected, and keep this good energy and camaraderie alive for the rest of our program.
